The four-year-old got home in a driving finish under regular rider Noel Harris for the fourth win of his career.
Trained by John Mason, the Hallmark Stud graduate has now won three races on the Hamilton track from six appearances.
He also showed his quality there last season when he ran third in the Gr 2 Waikato Guineas.
A son of Gold Mine, Breaking Dawn was a $4000 weanling buy in 2009 and is out of the Spectatorial mare, My Life.
She is a half-sister to the Group Two winner My Quota and the family of another stakes winner in Mr Bond.
