Amexed cashes up in Rough Habit
11 May 2014Amexed coped admirably with a major step up in class at Doomben yesterday afternoon to trump his age group rivals in the Gr 3 Rough Habit Plate.

The Hallmark Stud graduate had won his previous start in a Sunshine Coast maiden, but stronger company held no fears for him.

The progressive son of Pentire showed a good turn of foot in the straight to claim the thick end of the $A125,000 stake.

Trained by Tony Gollan, Amexed will now head to the Gr 3 Grand Prix Stakes on May 24 and the Gr 1 Queensland Derby a fortnight later.

“These are the races we bought him for, that is what you go to New Zealand to buy so it has worked out well," Gollan said.

Amexed was purchased out of Hallmark Stud’s 2012 Premier Sale draft at Karaka for $210,000.

A half-brother to Group performer Digital Fortress, he is out of the Danasinga mare Danex.

It is the family of the dual Gr 1 Captain Cook Stakes and Thorndon Mile winner Calm Harbour.
