High Council an exciting prospect
21 Aug 2014High Council created a good impression when he was successful at the first time of asking at Taupo this afternoon.
The well-related colt won in the style of a three-year-old capable of challenging for top age group honours later in the season.
“That was a good, tough effort and I’m very pleased with him,” trainer Danica Guy said.
“He’s got great barrier speed so it’s very exciting.”
Guy will consider a start in the Gr 2 Hawke’s Bay Guineas for High Council, whose long-term goal is the Gr.1 NZ 2000 Guineas.
A $220,000 Karaka yearling, the HALLMARK STUD graduate is a son of High Chaparral from a top-quality international family.
High Council is out of a Danehill mare, who is a daughter of the Gr 1 Royal Ascot Coronation Stakes winner Sophisticat.
There are a number of other European and North American Group winners featured in the pedigree.
