Group 1 Goal For Hallmark Stud Graduate Humidor
18 Aug 2016Otaki trainers Johno Benner and Hollie Wynyard have their eyes on a Group One spring prize for talented New Zealand galloper Humidor (Teofilo-Zalika, by Zabeel), reports NZ Racing Desk.

The 4YO son of Darley's Teofilo looked a serious staying prospect in the autumn and made a bold start to his current preparation when he got home well for third over 1400 metres at Te Rapa last weekend. "He was massive and he didn't have a jump-out or a trial before that," Benner said. "He's getting better all the time and he was making ground, which was against the pattern of the day."

The winner of two of his five starts last term including the Group 3 Manawatu Classic, Humidor will make his next appearance in a Rating 75 mile on Saturday week on the opening day of the Hawke's Bay carnival.

"We're looking at the Livamol Classic [G1] with him, but he's got to win his way into it," Benner said. "He's down the order a bit at the moment, but now he's had a run he's on target and we do think an awful lot of him."

The Group 1 Livamol Spring Classic (2040m) will be run at Hastings on 1 October.
