With trials for the juveniles getting underway, two were held at Cambridge on Thursday, with Super Easy’s first trial runner – the Shaun Ritchie-trained Super Hunter (pictured below as a yearling) proving successful in her heat.
Winning the 630m trial by a neck, Super Hunter’s performance emulated her sire who was also successful in his first public trial, winning over 650m at Cambridge.
Going on to win his next trial before making a winning debut, Super Easy broke Trentham’s 1000m track record (which still stands) in a time of 56.20, beating eventual Filly of the Year Planet Rock.
A nose second in the Group 3 Eclipse Stakes to Champion 2YO Anabandana at his next start, the son of Darci Brahma headed to Singapore after one final start in New Zealand where he joined the Michael Freedman yard.
Winning his first 12 races in succession in Singapore, Super Easy was duly crowned the Champion 3YO.
Retiring to Hallmark Stud after a career that netted three Group 1 wins in Singapore as well as back to back Horse of the Year titles, Super Easy covered an outstanding first book of mares, with those foals the current two-year-old crop.
Bred and sold by Hallmark Stud, we wish Mr Alex Chan the best of luck with Super Hunter for when she makes her racetrack debut.
