A quinella for Hallmark Stud on Group One Underwood Stakes day at Caulfield with Eclair Calling (Tartan Bearer) and Tezlah (Ocean Park) finishing first and second in race one on the programme.
The Phillip Stokes trained Eclair Calling is no stranger to the limelight, he was a record breaking yearling, holding the highest sale price ever achieved during the New Zealand Bloodstock Select Sale at $525,000.
His sire Tartan Bearer (Spectrum) who spent three years based at Hallmark Stud in Te Kauwhata is relatively unknown by New Zealanders. Bred by Ballymacoll Stud in Ireland and trained by Sir Michael Stoute in Newmarket he was a group three winner and multiple group one place getter. He is also a full brother to Group One 2000 Guineas winner Golan (Spectrum).
Second placed Tezlah (Ocean Park) ran a massive race to finish second at $26 and Racing.com's Jayne Ivil has nominated the Darren Weir trained entire as her 'one to follow' next start. The son of Ocean Park was also born and raised at the farm for our lovely client Barbara Saunders.
