Two year old Espinola (Bel Esprit ex Isabelino) got his career off to a good start today when winning over 1000m at Bendigo for trainers David, Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, under the ownership of Aquis Farm.
A particularly satisfying win for Hallmark Stud having pinhooked the son of Bel Esprit from the 2017 Gold Coast Weanling Sale for just $40,000. On arriving in New Zealand he was then prepared by Hallmark Stud for the New Zealand Bloodstock 2018 Book 1 sale. Attracting plenty of interest he achieved $100,000 selling to the global breeding and racing operation that is Aquis Farm.
Having passed through the NZB yearling sale he is qualified to take his place in the 2019 Karaka Million 2YO, whilst there is still a lot of water to go under the bridge, connections have indicated they are keen to pursue this option.
Espinola hails from a strong family with his first dam (Isabelino) being a half sister to Gr1 Coolmore Classic winner Regal Cheer (Arena) she in turn is the dam of Gr1 performer Knoydart (More Than Ready.) Also from this family is Gr1 place getter My Lady's Chamber who is the dam of listed winner Wanganui Guineas winner Highlad.
